Duke of Edinburgh's Award |
|
|
3rd Year boys Jack Halley, Grant Halley, Ben Frame, Callum Brooker, Josh Thomson, Glenn Woodage, Ross Cowan and 5th Year Sam Thomson cooked and served a three course meal for parents and guests for their Duke of Edinburgh's award.
The boys have been involved in a cookery course taught by Mrs Cowan for the last few months. Any concerns as to what might be served soon evaporated when the guests' arrival was greeted by the Halley twins serving canapes and wine. Everyone was soon shown to their tables for a meal of smoked mackerel pate, chicken and leek hotpot pie and poached pear and raspberry trifle.
The food was fantastic and the service enthusiastic and entertaining. The boys made a presentation to Mrs Cowan and her able assistant for teaching them over the last few months.

KA Mountaineering Club's expedition to the Lake District was based in the Patterdale area. They made the most of the blue skies by taking in four peaks (Helvellyn being the highest at 949m) and two scrambles, Striding Edge and the famous Pinnacle Ridge.

A few drops of rain didn't dampen the spirits at the Junior School Highland Games. Pupils from the Nursery and Junior School competed with excellent sportsmanship and determination in events that included caber tossing, wellie throwing, tug o' war and an obstacle course.
