warriors 3.jpg Glasgow Warriors invited a mixed J6 and Senior Prep team, captained by Ben Hughes (SP), to play against Duncanrig Secondary at half time at the recent Warriors v Scarlets match. The match started out a closely fought affair but Jamie Campbell (J6) quickly secured an early lead. Just before the end of the match, Angus Stuart (SP) made an impressive run up the length of the pitch to score our second try. The match ended 2-0 to KA. Former pupil Callum Maxwell (2009) refereed the match and the victorious KA team were cheered on in the stands by many family and friends.

The man of the match accolade goes to Angus Stuart (SP) and special mention has to go to Alexander Milne (SP) who stepped in at the very last minute to replace one of our players who had taken not well.

The evening was rounded off with a visit from the mascot who delivered a box filled with Glasgow Warriors merchandise including a signed ball and poster. There were also photo opportunities with some of the players.

2 stewart the winners.jpgSenior Prep recently competed in the Inter House Healthy Eating Enterprise Competition. Each house had to devise a campaign and then present it in an informative and interesting way. As part of the campaign, SP had to design a logo, badge or tag, leaflet, A3 poster, a banner and a certificate.

The campaign slogans were as follows:

Buchanan - 5 A Day, Buchanan's Way
Colquhoun - Keep it Balanced
MacGregor - Eat Healthy - Green and Clean
Stewart - Eat Strawberries Every Day, That's The Stewart Way!

Mr Karling was invited to judge the materials produced and the presentations given. Victory went to Stewart house after a very informative and entertaining presentation as well as a well thought out campaign. Stewart also worked very well as a team and was guided by some strong team leadership by Euan Brady (SP House Captain). Stewart now has to present their campaign to the Junior School and get the pupils to sign up to support their campaign.

emma steeples.jpg We are delighted to report that Emma Steeples (S5) has been selected to represent the British Schools Shooting Team in a tournament in Dortmund, Germany this March.

The Great Britain team will shoot against teams from the USA and Eastern Europe in a three-day competition. It is a first GB cap for Emma, who started shooting at Kelvinside Academy under the tutelage of Mr Charles Young, our Shooting Instructor.

In congratulating Emma on her outstanding success, the Rector said that he hoped her example would encourage more pupils at KA to take up the sport. "By winning a GB cap, Emma has shown what can be done through talent and dedication."
