Junior 2 Trip to Mugdock Country Park
On Friday, 11th May Junior 2 went on a trip to Mugdock Country Park to find minibeasts, which is our topic. A lot of minibeasts live in Mugdock Park. Unfortunately the weather was awful so a lot of minibeasts weren’t out so we couldn’t find them apart from worms. It was a great trip and everyone enjoyed the adventure trail. We also went pond dipping and Gordon caught two fish. We saw a really big worm and we played fishy fishy fishy.

On Friday 30 March Junior 2 and Junior 4 took part in an Easter Basket Challenge. The challenge involved making an Easter basket which could hold six mini eggs. Sounds easy! Unfortunately the children could only use paper. No glue, sellotape or staples. The Junior 4s worked very well with the Junior 2s and helped them to manage the tricky paper folding. Most of the baskets managed to hold the six mini eggs, as you can see in the photos.

Junior 2 held a Granny’s Tea Party on Wednesday 28 March. The pupils performed some dances from when their grandparents were younger then gave them a tour of the school so they could see what a modern school looks like. They finished off the afternoon with tea and cakes and a video showing the pupils’ favourite memories of their grandparents.

Junior Six pupils transformed themselves into pirates for a fantastic musical production of Treasure Island in the Gilchrist Theatre on 27 and 28 March. They rose to the challenge of taking Robert Louis Stevenson's classic adventure story onto the stage, adding their own mix of song, dance, drama and humour as they brought the tale of cabin boy Jim Hawkins to life. The boys and girls had been rehearsing all term, with some of them getting the opportunity to visit The Tall Ship on the Clyde to find out what life was really like on board a sailing ship. Others formed their own band, The Bold Buccaneers, to accompany the action, practising at lunch-times with music especially composed for the performance. There was a chance for budding choreographers as well to try their hands (and feet) at making up the dances. An appreciative audience on both nights showed by their applause that the children's efforts had been well worth while.
