Parent-Teacher Association

What is the PTA?

It is a partnership between parents and teachers to support all in the school community. Comprised of staff and parents/guardians, the Kelvinside Academy Parent Teacher Association (KAPTA) meets formally several times a term. All committee meetings are held at school. They are usually shorter than an hour in duration. Any parent, guardian or member of staff are welcome to attend.

What does the PTA do?

Acts as an informal channel of communication between parents and staff. The Association hosts social events for the pupils and parents throughout the year. It raises funds for the School, and provides a forum for parents and staff to communicate. Committee members and year representatives are elected tri-annually; most years of the school are represented by a parent. All members of the committee must apply for full disclosure from Disclosure Scotland. The Committee works to support the school and help in a variety of ways. Any profit is used to purchase items requested.

How can I help?

  • Help with fundraising events e.g. fairs, ceilidhs etc.
  • Assist at social events - even volunteer to do the washing up!
  • Support the PTA - come along to the meetings, they are fun and not too frequent!
  • Tell the committee about your ideas, interests and concerns.
