Charity ImageFoundation Appeal

The appeal for donations to our Bursary Fund, The KA Foundation, is a continuous one. Currently, it is the subject of an annual flier to Academicals. The School invests annually a portion of any operating surplus and there is also an annual donation from the Kelvinside Academy Parent Teachers’ Association.

For more information, please see Bursaries and Bursaries Appeal.

The Balgray Appeal

The opening of the floodlit, all-weather pitch at Balgray in January 2006 brought girls' hockey and boys' rugby together in the one place for the first time.

With the consequent increase in the number of teams and the number of spectators the inadequacy of the current facilities has become all too apparent.

The proposed new Sports Pavilion, built over 3 floors on the footprint of the old Green hut, will provide 10 new changing rooms with shower facilities, on the ground and first floor. The third floor, an area of some 343m2, will provide a hospitality suite and viewing gallaries overlooking both top and lower pitches.

This large space will have the flexibility for it to be used as also as an indoor teaching area and a fitness and dance studio.

Planning permission for the development has been granted.

Renovation of the Old Stand will be necessary to complement the new pavilion.

Our Appeal for £1.2 million

Balgray Sports PavilionThe cost of the new Sports Pavilion is £2 million, inclusive of all fees and VAT.

The Balgray Ball in October 2006, attended by Academicals, parents and friends of Kelvinside Academy, raised the fantastic sum of £70,000 and gave a strong indication of the KA Community's commitment both to the School and the development of Balgray.

A Fundraising Committee was established before Christmas and this sum has increased to over £800,000 following pledges by Charitable Trusts, the School and a number of individuals.

From this substantial base, we now seek to launch our appeal to the whole Kelvinside Community, to past and present parents and to Academicals.

Your Contribution

ALL donations - large or small, one-off or regular - will be welcomed.

All donations will be acknowledged in the Minerva newsletter, unless anonymity is requested.

Company donations can be recognised in various ways, including through advertising boards displayed at Balgray.

Should the donor wish it, we would be delighted to have his or her name associated with a part or indeed the whole of the new building.
