On normal Thursday afternoons S3 cadets take their Proficiency Part One syllabus, learning about Drill, Shooting, Map and Compass, and First Aid. S4 Cadets continue with training on the Proficiency Part Two Syllabus which includes Principles of Flight, Navigation and Airmanship. S5 Cadets undertake Advanced Training Proficiency including Advanced Air Navigation, a specialist/adventurous subject, and the JNCO Cadre as they learn to become instructors. In S6, Senior Cadets hand on their experiences to Junior Cadets by delivering the bulk of the training packages.

The RAF section provides substantial amounts of flying, during term time and on camps. Cadets gain regular Air Experience Flying in Grob Tutor T1 fixed wing training aircraft at Glasgow Airport and in Viking T1 gliders at RAF Kirknewton (661 VGS). During the Easter and Summer holidays cadets have the opportunity to go to camp on RAF stations nationwide and in Germany and Cyprus, seeing different aspects of the workings of the RAF.

In addition to the main Summer and Easter Camps there are a variety of other adventurous training and leadership camps and courses throughout the UK which cadets can attend. There is the opportunity to take both Gliding & Flying Scholarships and take part in the International Air Cadet Exchange which has seen cadets travel as far afield as Hong Kong and Israel.
