The responsibility of preparing our students for a world of rapid change shapes our academic and co-curricular programmes. In their final year, for example, S6 students follow a professional studies course that covers leadership, entrepreneurship, finance, community service, study skills and campus survival. Some take Open University modules.
We invite guest speakers from the universities, business and the professions to highlight the transferable skills and personal attributes our students will need to succeed in the 21st century. It’s an approach that works. Our school leavers win places on competitive courses at the leading universities; former pupils can be found at the top of every profession and succeeding in every walk of life.
The destinations of our 2016 school leavers include Cambridge University, Imperial College London, University of Toronto, Monmouth University USA, the ancient Scottish Universities of Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow as well as Strathclyde and Heriot Watt. The courses on which they have gained places include highly competitive subjects such as Medicine, Law, International Business, Pharmacology, Engineering, Nursing and Accountancy.
