Scotland, here I come…
Kelvinside Academy Homestay
International Pupils 16 -18 years
Kelvinside Academy pupils are the most impressive young men and women you will meet anywhere. Each individual is encouraged to “be the best you can be” in every aspect of life. Through inspiring and dedicated teaching, young people are asked to think for themselves, be creative and imaginative, and to search for knowledge and truth with inquisitive, open minds. Pupils also learn to be enterprising and resilient, and to show kindness, courtesy and concern for others in all they do. Kelvinside Academy is regarded as one of Scotland’s leading independent schools so it is not surprising that we receive pupil applications from overseas. Our Homestay Programme allows us to welcome more international pupils to the school.
We believe one of our fundamental strengths is our diverse pupil body and, with almost 20 nationalities represented, it is genuinely exciting, stimulating and enlightening to be part of such a rich cultural mix. Our international pupils are a huge part of the Kelvinside Academy community and all our pupils benefit from mixing with so many different nationalities.
The KA Homestay network extends the opportunity of a Kelvinside education to international pupils aged 16-18 years. Our Homestay families welcome international pupils into their home and their family during term time, providing a safe and welcoming ‘home from home’ environment to support your child during their time at Kelvinside. We offer guardianship through our Homestay partner ‘Academic Families
’, who support international pupils to ensure their Scottish school days are happy and successful. We match pupils with a host family connected to the School, allowing for a strong and positive relationship to develop between Homestay families and international pupils. The experience of studying abroad and staying with a Scottish family allows pupils to become fluent in English, opens their minds to another culture, make life-long friendships and learn more about themselves and the world around them. It provides international pupils with an outstanding preparation for university in the UK or beyond.
