Kelvinside Academy pupils participate in a wide variety of activities outside the classroom. These activities help them to develop leadership skills, learn about teamwork and enjoy a sense of achievement.
The school has outstanding sports facilities at its Balgray campus and a great number of boys and girls represent the school in sports from rugby and hockey to rowing, athletics and shooting. Outdoor education, too, is an integral part of the curriculum at Kelvinside Academy. The mountains, lochs and coastline of Scotland offer opportunities for adventure and discovery. Many pursuits, such as climbing and sailing, take place through the Combined Cadet Force and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
The expressive arts flourish and contribute to the rich cultural life of the school. Young people gain confidence through performance in music and drama, as well as in public speaking and participation in the Young Enterprise Award. In recent years, pupils have been very active in community projects within Glasgow, such as homework clubs and a soup kitchen.
