It was a big weekend for Lily Evans Haggerty (S2) who followed up all her recent athletics successes to win the U15 British School Cross Country International in Port Talbot. She was running against the UK's top junior athletes and put in a brilliant performance to win by 6 seconds. Lily is the first Scot to ever win this U15 championship.

On Friday 25 February pupils competed at the Glasgow Schools Cross Country at Netherpollok. Well done to everyone who took part.
In particular, well done to Jennifer Lewis (S6) who won the Senior Girls race and Lily Evans Haggerty (S2) who won the S2 race.

Huge congratulations to Lily Evans Haggerty (S1) who won the girls U16 1500m race at the recent Scottish School Indoor Athletics Championships. This is quite an achievement for a 13 year old.

Well done to the 241 pupils who took part in the annual Kelvinside Academy Road Race yesterday. The wet weather did not seem to dull effort or enjoyment, as pupils ran the distance competing for their House. It was a brother and sister victory for Stewart House as Guy Evans Haggerty (S6) won the Boys Race and Lily Evans Haggerty (S2) won the Girls Race in spectacular fashion.

Congratulations to the KA Hurricanes who blew the opposition away yesterday at the annual St. Columba's P7 tournament.
The boys were in Pool 1 against;
High School of Glasgow (Win 3-0)
St Columba's (Win 8-0)
Queen Victoria School (Win 6-0)

Saturday morning saw both the 1st XV and U16 teams emerge victorious against The High School of Glasgow and last week saw the 1st XV team travel to the Borders and come back undefeated!

Congratulations to Ellie Kemsley (S5), Lucy Findlay (S6), Maddie Cairnduff (S6) and Jessica Halley (S6) who were part of the West U16 and U18 teams that won the Inter District Tournament at the weekend.
Congratulations are also in order for Mrs Fiona Cafolla who was the U16 West Coach.

Congratulations to Rachel Cannon and Frank Murray who were part of the Scotland rowing team over the summer.
Rachel finished the season by winning a gold medal in the J18 2- at the National Junior British Championships.
Both Rachel and Frank represented Scotland at the Home International Regatta. Frank took Gold for Scotland in J2x and Rachel took Gold for Scotland in the WJ2- and 3rd place in the JW8+.

KA 5 Schools Event – Balgray 13 May
This is the second year KA have hosted this event along with Broomhill Primary, Kelvindale Primary, Hamilton College and St. Columba’s School. This is now becoming one of the Junior School main athletics events. With over 200 pupils attending the event there is a real buzz around Balgray. There were some excellent performances on the day by KA pupils. This was illustrated by KA winning 8 out of the 12 relay races. Kelvinside won both the boys and girls competitions and were the overall combined winner. A very successful afternoon!
The Glasgow Academy Henderson Challenge – 20 May
Following on from the previous week KA pupils were involved in the annual Henderson Challenge organised by Glasgow Academy. The schools involved were Glasgow Academy, High School of Glasgow, Jordanhill and St Aloysius College.
