Applications for entry to Junior School are accepted all year round.
P1 candidates are invited to attend informal assessments in February prior to their desired starting session; small groups of children meet Mr Andrew Dickenson, Head of Junior School and Mrs Tracy Nugent, Head of Nursery. The children are observed for their communication and language development, their ability to listen, concentrate and follow instruction as well as their interaction with adults and other children.
If applying to join the school after the start of the school year in August, the children will be invited to spend a taster day at the school during which they will have similar informal language and development assessment.
P2 - P6 candidates are invited to attend a Taster Day where they join a class for the day and meet some of their prospective classmates. During their visit they will complete language and number assessments. Having the opportunity to meet some possible future classmates and get to know the staff and facilities can be a real benefit to potential students, as well as allowing us to get to know your children.
The children are assessed on the basis of their performance in our assessments, our observations during their taster day and a satisfactory report from their current school. For P2 and P3, information will be sought on academic progress and attitude. For P4 – P6, information will be sought on academic progress, attitude and aptitude in extra-curricular activities.
No Taster Day or entrance assessment may be undertaken before a completed application form has been received, along with the application fee of £30.
Alternative assessment arrangements can be made with your child’s current school where applicants are unable to travel to the school for a taster day prior to a desired start date.
